There is no doubt that the disparities between the achievement of children of African heritage and their white peers remain stark and unsustainable. If we fail to bridge the gap, we will once again be leaving another generation of young people on the sidelines of our economy. The answer lies in the quality of our schools and how they address the educational challenges young people of African Heritage face each and every day. When we look at poverty rates, graduation rates, crime rates and employment rates, one thing stands out: young people of African Heritage are not fully sharing in the promise of educational attainment. Far too many are trapped in circumstances that are difficult to escape.

The Clarion Academy is a supplementary Academy with a strong mentoring component. We work with schools, parents and others to provide educational opportunities for young people of African Heritage.

The Clarion Academy will promote educational opportunities; and develop civic, corporate, educational, political, cultural, artistic and volunteering opportunities amongst our young people.

The Academy will continue to build on our early successes which include helping a number of young people to apply for bursaries. As a result of this work two students commenced attending the famous Rugby School in September 2013. It is our aim to encourage more young people to grasp this opportunity to commence Independent School life.
